In our family’s experience Story Land is one of the best amusement parks in New Hampshire for children. Situated in Glen on NH Route 16 you will easily find it. For accurate location and amenities use our KidFriendlyVenues app available on this site. With an abundance of rides for young children, it’s fun for the whole family! Here are four reasons to visit:
1. Avoid the Dreaded Wait Times
We visited Story Land on a summer Friday, and there were always attractions available with little or no wait times. There is nothing more challenging than trying to entertain two young children while waiting in crowded lines. Thankfully Story Land is not managed that way. Because of the huge variety of play stops there are none of the hour-long lines seen at more crowded parks. We could always find themed play areas or engaging animatronic characters to entertain between rides with no wait at all required.
2. Build Magical Memories
From riding a pumpkin carriage to meeting Cinderella in her castle, to taking a sail on the Buccaneer Pirate Ship, Story Land will definitely become a yearly tradition. My daughter could not stop talking about going on her first real roller coaster, and even my toddler was adorable, saying “Arrr” while aboard the Pirate Ship ride. Staying until closing time we ended the day with a blast. The kids were able to dance and walk the red carpet with Cinderella, Peter Pan, Tinkerbell, Red Riding Hood, and Daniel Tiger!
3. Entertainment & Characters
Speaking of characters, we loved that Story Land had ample live entertainment and engaging characters. We watch PBS’s television show Daniel Tiger at home. So my daughters were super excited to see Daniel Tiger, Katerina Kitty Cat, and other characters perform from their favorite TV show! We didn’t have time to participate in or see all of the live entertainment but we hope to make it to the Cinderella Tea Party next time! (Tip: Buy tickets for Cinderella’s Tea ahead of time, they sold out the day we visited.)
4. Perfect for Elementary School-Aged Children & Younger
We have visited other well-run parks, but often it is a challenge to find enough rides that we can take our younger kids on. We have to dash across crowded parks and usually end up going on the same few rides. What I loved about Story Land was the minimal planning required. We could just wander around and find ample rides or activities for our children. There are a few exciting roller coasters, so it is definitely not a park for just very young kids. I also noticed separate rooms for feeding/changing babies all over the park, making Story Land amenable for whole-family visits: nursing moms with older children, all-age families with pre-teens and toddlers, and the babysitter or grandparent plus schoolchildren.
