I recommend Six Flags Great America Amusement Park. It is located a short ride via tollway from downtown Chicago to Gurnee, Illinois. As a working mom, taking your kids to an amusement park can be both exciting and daunting. I want my little ones to have the time of their lives while ensuring their safety and happiness. Six Flags Great America understands how important it is to cater to families, that is why they have a range of kid-friendly amenities that my kids and I really love. In this blog post, I am going to guide you through the must-visit kid-friendly attractions at Six Flags Great America that your family will thank you for. After all, it is an amusement park… so prepare to be amused!

Amusement Park Attractions: Measure your kids’ heights

Adventure Rides are divided into three categories based on appropriate content, height, experience and thrill level. Kids Rides typically do not have a minimum height range if kids are riding with an adult. To ride alone, most rides have a 36” minimum, so I suggest you measure your children prior to heading to the park to prevent any potential tears. Family Rides include exciting, but tame, options that will appeal to preschool-aged children all the way through the teen years – These rides even prove to be cool to “tweens”. Finally, Thrill Rides are the big coasters reserved for the brave middle schoolers and above! There is something for everyone at Six Flags Great America.

Kidzopolis: Maximum experiences for Minis

There is a kiddie area called Kidzopolis located inside Six Flags Great America that caters to kids aged 2-12. The attraction, located in the “County Fair” region of the park, is themed around a small town where kids can experience various rides, games, and attractions that cater to their size and age. There are mini roller coasters, a spinning teacup ride, a ferris wheel, a mini-train ride, and many more. Not to mention the multiple interactive water play areas where kids can cool off during the hot summer days. is incredibly fun, colorful, and perfect for families with younger kids. Be sure to check out some additional kids areas – for ages 2 to 12 – in the Hometown Square and the Yukon Territory barrios.

Hurricane Harbor: Break up the Day in a Private Cabana

Hurricane Harbor is Six Flags Great America’s waterpark that is included in the park admission. This part of Six Flags is only open weekdays from late June-early August and weekends from June until Labor Day. It is the perfect place to cool off and relax during the summer months. The waterpark has a range of rides and activities that cater to all ages, including a lazy river, wave pool, water slides, and splash pads for the little ones. Hurricane Harbor also has private cabanas available for rent, equipped with a fan, TV, and refrigerator, and dining options for a quick bite between rides. This is an excellent way to break up the day of long lines to wait for the amusement park rides.

Looney Tunes National Park: Characters to Pose and Photo with

Located inside Six Flags Great America, Looney Tunes National Park is an area that features your kids favorite cartoon characters. Kids can meet and take photos with Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, and other Looney Tunes characters. There are also rides, attractions, and play areas themed around their favorite characters. The park is perfect for kids who love cartoons and interactive experiences.

Character Dining and Other Kid-Friendly Dining

Six Flags Great America offers character dining experiences that cater to both adults and kids. Kids will love the chance to have breakfast or lunch with their favorite Looney Tunes characters while enjoying a kid-friendly menu. The character dining takes place in a Mardi Gras-themed The Orleans Room inside the park. Dining with character experience requires advanced reservations, and be sure to book these early. Additionally, there are quite a few options for dining that are kid-friendly and located throughout the park. These are located in pop-up stands or one of the multiple food courts on park grounds. Six Flags Great America is a cashless venue, so you can use a cash kiosk to obtain a prepaid debit card, or just use your personal bank cards.

First Aid and Baby Care Facilities

As a mom, you always worry about your child’s health and safety, especially during an active day at the amusement park. Six Flags Great America has numerous First Aid stations located throughout the park to ensure your child’s safety.
