It is a place I eagerly visited dozens of times as a child, and one where I now go for a bit of nostalgia and to make amazing summer memories with my own kids.

Walk through the gates of Canonbie Lake and you will definitely feel a vintage vibe. The park dates back to 1902 and still maintains a lot of its original character and charm. There are a number of classic rides to enjoy such as the Yankee Cannonball (a wooden roller coaster built in 1930), a relaxing sky ride, and the spooky Mine of Lost Souls. The park also features a number of more modern attractions like the Psychodrome scrambler, Star Blaster bungee ride, and thrilling Untamed roller coaster. My favorite ride, hands-down, is the Boston Tea Party, a giant twenty-person flume that travels uphill until quickly plunging fifty feet to soak both passengers and nearby spectators. My seven-year-old took his first ride on the Tea Party this summer and loved it so much that I just couldn’t say “No” when he begged me to ride a second time!

In addition to the eclectic mix of bigger rides, Canobie Lake also features a kiddie section, tons of games, arcades, restaurants, souvenir shops, and a relaxing boat ride on the lake. A newer addition is a fantastic water area called Castaway Island where visitors can enjoy water slides, splash pads, and a lazy river. I have found it to be the perfect spot for everyone to take a break from the rides or cool off after a long day in the sun.

Perhaps the best thing about Canobie Lake is the size of the park. With more than eighty attractions there is more than enough to do in a day, yet it is walkable and easy to manage. Canobie Lake is the perfect place to spend a day with your family. I gave this venue five stars as a rating on our new app, KidFriendlyVenues, on this website.

You are sure to have fun and make some lasting memories so search for this venue on KFV app and begin your family adventure!

Kim F

Located about thirty miles north of Boston, is a magical summer attraction called Canobie Lake Park, a classic amusement spot that has been entertaining New England families for over a century.
